Many people like to try different hotels in different cities and may go for the most expensive one they can afford – or the cheapest they can find - but there are certain criteria to choosing a hotel or apartment which I firmly believe are vital to making the right choice.
Whether it is apartment rentals Amsterdam or a hotel in Moscow, location is the key. I must admit that I am not fond of public transport and taxis are so expensive that I always try to find a hotel which is within easy walking distance of wherever I want to be, whether it is a business meeting or a tourist attraction.
I also try to find a hotel within easy walking distance of a supermarket as I find it so much easier to be able to buy a snack there instead of eating out in a restaurant, especially if I am on my own.
I also like to have the creature comforts in the room. Don't get me wrong, it does not have to be luxurious, but I like the room to be comfortable and above all clean.
A shower that is in decent working order, a big comfy bed, a TV with English channels, a kettle or coffee maker and an iron – that is all it takes to make me happy. Oh, and preferably room service in case I don't feel like eating out.
