Chain vs Boutique

If you are looking for an apartment or hotel for your next stay, you may be deciding on what type of hotel to go for, a standard chain hotel or a more individual boutique hotel. There are pros and cons to both types which I have outlined below.

A chain hotel is usually less atmospheric, but if you have stayed in the chain before, you are likely to know what level of service and facilities you can expect to receive. Some of the chain hotels also represent very good value for money and if you have a loyalty card you can earn points towards your next stay.

A boutique hotel is smaller and usually offers a much more personal service but it is more of an unknown entity. You might have a fantastic time or you might be disappointed, there is nothing to measure it by. They are usually far more atmospheric and the decor is usually more stylish than that of a chain hotel.

It really depends on what you are looking for, how much you are prepared to pay and what sort of facilities you are expecting.

Some people prefer a more unique stay and actively look for a chic boutique hotel, whereas other travellers prefer to know in advance what home comforts and standard they can expect.
