Accommodation in New York, one of the world's busiest and most popular cities, is expensive. There is not, for example, a whole host of cheap hotels in Manhattan just waiting to be filled. Finding affordable lodging, and, more importantly, finding it vacant, is a difficult task and first time vacationers will need some guidance from the experts. Research is key. Get online and dig through as much available content as possible. When you have an idea of how much rooms cost and what amenities are available on a budget, work out your minimum hotel requirements. From here you'll be ready to make an informed decision. Narrow down the options to just a few hotels. Get yourself back online and this time browse the net for accommodation coupons and discounts which are, surprisingly, available from a variety of websites. (more...) Planning a holiday is an exciting but often difficult project. With so much to organise, it's almost inevitable that something will be left out. Seasoned vacation experts suggest that travellers focus on three key areas: namely, preparation, budget and flexibility. It is important to start planning your holiday well in advance. Begin to investigate options several months before. This way you avoid the crush of bookings a few weeks before the holiday season and so you have a better chance of finding good accommodation in a sought-after city or town. In this time of economic crisis, budget is more important than ever. To ensure you don't bankrupt yourself, outline a careful spending plan and do not exceed the amount you have decided to devote to your holiday. This may mean you have to take the cheaper option on several occasions, however, with some thought, it is possible to find quality vacation resources with economical price tags. For example taking villas in Spain or Greece works out to be far more budget friendly that staying in an hotel, but it also, in many ways, makes for a better holiday experience. (more...) Finding acceptable accommodation on a budget is not an easy task. Newcomers to travel should certainly expect to experience difficulties when it comes to vetting establishments, finding vacancies and working out which prices are reasonable and which are extortionate. Experts agree that key to booking rooms in Amsterdam cheap hotels or Paris's auberges, is a solid understanding of accommodation prices and basic amenities. In light of this, first time travellers are encouraged to research thoroughly in order to gain an idea of how much they can expect to get for their money.
Once this foundational understanding has been established, prospective vacationers will be in a position to draw up some standards. It is important to think hard about what constitutes acceptable as a holiday spent in sub-par lodgings promises to be no holiday at all. (more...) With the economy only just beginning to recover from the recent crisis, many people are still not keen to shell out for costly hotel accommodation on their holidays. In place of expensive hotels, vacationers are turning to self catering apartments in Amsterdam,. Paris and other major cities throughout Europe. There are numerous benefits to choosing self-catering over hotel lodging on vacation, most prominent among which is the often-cited sense of freedom that comes with independent living. Unrestricted by hotel rules and regulations, holidaymakers who have taken apartments and villas can come and go as they please. In addition, self-catering units in the world's cultural centres allow for a more authentic holiday experience in many respects. An hotel often involves planned tourist excursions and en masse visits to heritage sites, whereas self-catering encourages holidaymakers to explore for these themselves. (more...) Travel on a budget is a tricky business, but one which has been made infinitely easier over the years by the many internet sites dedicated to disseminating information, and selling cheap tickets and accommodation. In preparation for the time spent staying in Barcelona or Madrid, or where ever the vacation is planned, it is primarily important to research prices and available lodgings in the area. This will give the potential holidaymaker a good idea of how much money it will be necessary to spend. From here it will be possible to draw up a budget and also to lay down a few simple requirements. While cost is important when working on a budget, it is also crucial to remember that personal standards need to be maintained. A vacation spent in an hotel that does not satisfy foundational conditions will not be an enjoyable experience. (more...) Rome is a delight to visit all year around, but vacationers should plan their holiday well in advance. With so much culture in a compact space, a trip to the famous city will be action packed and in order to make the most of it, holidaymakers will need a well structured game-plan. Prospective visitors to Rome should consider staying in a self-catering apartment or a B&B over a big hotel as these are usually very expensive and extremely busy. However, those who do decide to opt for smaller, cheaper accommodation will not have access to planned tours and guided trips and so will need to do a lot of research in preparation for their sight seeing. Upon arrival, tourists should purchase a travel pass which will allow them to get around on the metro for the duration of their trip. Visitors can also buy a Rome pass which allows free access to some places of interest for a limited period of time. (more...) Experts agree that the best accommodation in Palermo, Sicily is undoubtedly its many self-catering apartments. While hotels offer tourists planned tours and restaurant food, visitors who take their own lodgings get a chance to explore life in the region in way that affords a far more authentic experience.
Finding self-catering apartments in Sicily is not difficult. The beautiful island, just off the coast of Italy, is littered with quaint bed and breakfast establishments and villas and apartments for rent. Holidaymakers should research available options well in advance of their trip to ensure successful booking. In addition to simply reading the content provided by accommodation establishments themselves, it is important also to get to grips with reviews written by previous visitors. These can be found on a variety of internet sites and will give prospective visitors a good, unbiased idea of what the institution is really like. (more...) Holidaymakers are faced with a choice when planning their vacation: do they book into an hotel and fork out a lot of money, or do they find self-catering apartments and forfeit the turn down service and concierge? There are many advantages to both options; however, in this time of economic crisis, self-catering tips the scales. Hiring a flat or house in your holiday destination is far more economical than staying in an hotel. Luxury Villas in Italy can be rented, for example, for less than guests pay to stay in a fairly average hotel for the same length of time. Budget is not the only benefit, however. Hiring a house allows holidaymakers a far more secluded and private vacation than they would find in an hotel. In addition, vacationers can really immerse themselves in the local culture, trying out restaurants and cooking their own versions of local cuisine. (more...) The popularity of self-catering holiday destinations has risen dramatically over the last few years. This is undoubtedly connected with the economic crisis as renting a property works out to be far more cost-effective than stating in an hotel.
Finding the ideal self-catering space for your holiday should not be too difficult. In every major European tourist destination you will find agencies advertising Holiday Villas in Spain, Italy and Greece, amongst others. Sifting through all the choice is where the difficulty lies, but this too can be resolved without hassle. To begin with, prospective holidaymakers need to research vacation properties in the area, and narrow down those that suit budget and size requirements. Be sure to make contact with the letting company well before the vacation date and, above all, do not relinquish any funds without proof that the agent you're dealing with is certified and trust worthy. (more...) Holidaying on a budget can be tricky, but in recent, economically difficult years, vacationers have got it down to a fine art. To ensure minimum cash outlay, there are three key areas that need attention during planning: namely, flights, accommodation and spending money. It is crucial that potential holidaymakers looking for a cheap vacation start the planning process with a strict budget in mind. Finding cheap flights is not very difficult, as long as certain rules are obeyed. Book your tickets well in advance to avoid steep pre-take off price hikes. In addition, being prepared to leave at odd times of day and night will also shave a few numbers off the price. When you're working on a budget, it is pretty much necessary that you stay at a self-catering facility. This does not need to be a sacrifice however, and self-catering properties have evolved over the years into beautiful, practical holiday facilities. Luxury Villas in France are not only cheaper than hotels, but allow for a sense of freedom, authenticity and independence that other vacationers are not allowed. (more...) By now, vacationers know all about travel insurance and how important it can be. Insurance companies in your home country only cover a certain network area which means that once you takeoff in that plane, you are no longer protected. Usually, vacationers take out a travel policy with a specific holiday in mind, however, those who frequently find themselves in foreign countries can pay annual travel insurance if their current service provider allows it.
Travel insurance is not a blanket term and policies vary quite dramatically in price and the extent of cover they provide. Basic packages make sure that travellers ensure that medical costs incurred over seas are paid for; however, plans are available with additional options. (more...) Holidaying in this tense period of economic crisis can be difficult. Flights, hotels and, indeed, vacation activities, are expensive. However, with a little planning and foresight, it is possible to design an exciting holiday for very little money. To begin with it is crucially important to organise your trip in advance. As the holiday season approaches, the price of flights and accommodation go up and their availability decreases proportionally. Do some research into the options available to you and then secure your places in hotels and on flight early to ensure you get the best possible deal. Over the last few years, self-catering apartments have become increasingly more popular. However, it is still possible to find well-priced hotel accommodation if you know where to look. Around the holiday season a lot European and UK hotels run special promotional offers which give vacationers access to great facilities and which are cost effective into the bargain. (more...) If you will be visiting any city in the world for an extended stay then you may wish to consider a range of accommodation options from hotels, through to serviced apartments through to homestays. The good news is that there is a huge amount of accommodation to choose from whether it is cheap New York apartments or luxury condos. The bad news is that it can be very time consuming to sift out the good from the bad – and costly if you make a mistake. If you will be in a city for a month or more then you need to decide what your most important criteria are. Comfort will probably be up there on the top of your list as will plenty of space as you will not want to spend a month or more in a place where you cannot swing a cat. (more...) If you are planning on visiting San Francisco, you may be lost for choice when it comes to choosing a hotel as there are so many great ones to choose from. You have the grand luxury hotels such as the Fairmont, which is one of the best hotels in the city, through to budget hotels and you have to decide carefully which area you want to be in. As you may or may not know, San Francisco is a city of hills and there is simply no escaping them. If you have limited mobility then you may well want to consider a hotel right on the front as most hotels are to be found up a steep stretch of hill. Of course, you have the famous San Francisco trams which can take you up and down, but they too require certain mobility just to battle your way on to them and they are often very crowded. (more...) Wherever you choose to travel there is bound to be a whole range of options, some of which you may never even have thought of before and if you are going to a new country on holiday, you might consider the different options – you never know you might experience something totally different! Whether you are looking for places to stay in Dublin, Vancouver or Bangkok, a hotel is always the most popular option as you can find them to suit all budgets and they offer many facilities that other accommodation options do not have. Apartments are also very popular as they offer flexibility to the traveller and also work out as a well priced option if you are travelling in a group. (more...) For all its glamour as a world capital, London is actually a very tricky place to find accommodation in, as the standards seem to vary quite considerably between hotels of the same grade and the city is also very expensive to stay and live in. Whether you are looking for a hotel or apartments in London, you have to do some research before booking any old place. Location is important for several reasons. Location firstly dictates the price and if you are looking for cheap hotels in certain parts of the city you will certainly not find them. Secondly, location is important as to where your main interest lies, whether it is tourist attractions or business. If you are planning to take public transport then make sure that it is on a bus route or near the tube. (more...) If you are travelling to a particular country or city for the first time in your life, where do you start to find a good hotel or apartment that you know will deliver comfortable and inexpensive accommodation? Where will you find good Warsaw rentals or a budget hotel when you know nothing of the city or its geography? A good place to start is always the official tourist site for the country or city as they will give you an indication of what there is available, but these are not always independently rated by the tourist organisation. If you have friends or family or even business colleagues in the city then you may well be able to take some impartial advice from them on where to book – although no blaming them if it turns out to be a dive! (more...) If you are looking for an apartment or hotel for your next stay, you may be deciding on what type of hotel to go for, a standard chain hotel or a more individual boutique hotel. There are pros and cons to both types which I have outlined below. A chain hotel is usually less atmospheric, but if you have stayed in the chain before, you are likely to know what level of service and facilities you can expect to receive. Some of the chain hotels also represent very good value for money and if you have a loyalty card you can earn points towards your next stay. A boutique hotel is smaller and usually offers a much more personal service but it is more of an unknown entity. You might have a fantastic time or you might be disappointed, there is nothing to measure it by. They are usually far more atmospheric and the decor is usually more stylish than that of a chain hotel. (more...) Many people like to try different hotels in different cities and may go for the most expensive one they can afford – or the cheapest they can find - but there are certain criteria to choosing a hotel or apartment which I firmly believe are vital to making the right choice. Whether it is apartment rentals Amsterdam or a hotel in Moscow, location is the key. I must admit that I am not fond of public transport and taxis are so expensive that I always try to find a hotel which is within easy walking distance of wherever I want to be, whether it is a business meeting or a tourist attraction. I also try to find a hotel within easy walking distance of a supermarket as I find it so much easier to be able to buy a snack there instead of eating out in a restaurant, especially if I am on my own. (more...) Travel is not cheap and a visit to Australia can, in particular, be very expensive. For Europe and America, a flight to Sydney means going half way around the world, and this is the kind of journey that, unfortunately, costs a lot of money. As such, the price of a stay in Australia starts out very high. Prospective tourists struggle to find affordable flights and often end up paying vast sums just on the airfare. They are then left with less money to spend on accommodation and activities when they reach the country. Fortunately, Australia appears to be aware of this conundrum experienced by many of its visitors. Indeed, tourists will find a host of affordable accommodation in and around the country including economical apartments for rent and a wide selection of cheap Sydney hotels, Brisbane and elsewhere across the continent. (more...) Having forked out for long flights with numerous changeovers and time spent in airports, many visitors to Australia find themselves looking for accommodation on a slightly tighter budget that usual. Hotel prices are high all over the world, and in conjunction with pricy Australian air tickets and a diabolical exchange rate at the moment, a holiday to this country turns out to be very expensive. Travellers who would ordinarily book themselves into a good hotel turn away from en masse luxury accommodation and often find themselves looking at executive apartment for rent in sydney. Choosing to stay in self-catering lodgings is smart for a host of reasons, not least of which is the price tag. Guests at hotels pay, to a great extent, for the service they receive, and often their stay is part of a package deal which includes meals and day trips. While this kind of all-inclusive option can actually save the tourist money, it often still works out to more expensive than taking a self catering apartment. (more...) Because it is an increasingly popular tourist destination, accommodation for tourists throughout Australia is on the rise. Visitors will find a wide variety of hotel and self-catering lodging available across the country with options and levels to suit all budgets. Usually when tourists arrive on Australian shores it is with a bank balance crippled by the long expensive air journey, and so many who come to the country do so looking for budget friendly accommodation options. Those in the know will have booked a place either in an independent apartment, or as a part of a package deal which includes food and accommodation as well as tours of the area.
Many hotels in Brisbane and indeed in the ever-popular Sydney, have taken to advertising this kind of all-inclusive deal to great effect. Visitors eat and drink as part of the rate, and are also offered some guidance when it comes to seeing the sights. (more...) My favourite destination of the moment has to be Beirut, which has made it to the top of many travel lists this year as the place to go, especially as there are some great hotel deals. From the moment the plane skims over the water and lands at Rafic Hariri airport, you feel a buzz that stays with you the whole time. You can visit at any time of year as there is always something to do. In the summer you can visit one of the many paid private beaches where you can sip a cocktail and mix with the beautiful and trendy crowds that hang out there. If it gets a tad too hot you can head up in the mountains, to the iconic cedar forests or just to eat in one of the many mountain restaurants which offer respite from the heat. (more...) If you are looking for a stylish and pretty unusual hotel then some of the Dubai hotels have to be right up there! I have stayed in a couple and visited a few for lunch or dinner and I have to say that out of the hundreds of hotels that I have stayed in over the last twenty years, a Dubai hotel certainly stands out from the rest. Right at the top has to be the Burj Al Arab, the 6 star hotel which stands out in the sea, shaped like a sail. It is fantastic lit up at night and viewed from afar, but going inside is something special. Although I could never afford to stay there, I managed a couple of meals and from the moment you walk in you can feel the opulence and glamour from the gilded ceilings and the designer shops. (more...) The caravan holiday has for decades been a favourite with families and couples and from all over the United Kingdom. Those who favour vacations of this kind over hotel living swear that their travelling home-away-from-home afford them versatility and comfort, not available anywhere else. For those keen to get into the business of recreational caravanning, however: it can be tricky. Buying the right caravan is difficult if you don't know what you're looking for. With a range of makes available, from Sherpa to the ever-popular sprite caravans, and in various sizes and kit levels, making a choice is difficult unless you have an idea what you are looking for. Experienced caravanners advise that newcomers do plenty of research before heading to the dealership, and that, if possible, they bring someone in the know along with them. (more...) Many tourists from Europe, America and indeed other parts of Africa, choose Kenya as a safari destination. There is a host of wildlife roaming the country's national parks and several beautiful game reserves and hotels at which to stay. As a first time safari goer, it is very important that you pack intelligently. Kenya safaris tend to be geared towards touristy comfort rather than rough bush living, but it remains crucial that you arrive with at least some of the right gear. Binoculars should probably be one of the first tools on your list. Purchase these from any good sporting goods store and take care to keep them in a sturdy case during the flight to avoid breaking them. Without these, some of the animals will be too far away to be seen. (more...) Kenya is a breathtakingly beautiful country and one which is becoming increasingly popular with tourists from all over the world. Visitors have a choice, as in most holiday destinations, between hotel living, game reserve accommodation and self-catering apartments in the city. Each option has benefits of its own and those looking for Nairobi apartments and places to stay will find a wide variety of available options open to them. From luxury pent houses to self-catering flatlets in the national parks, Kenya offers holidaymakers accommodation to suit a range of budgets and tastes. As in any holiday destination, the choice between hotel living and self-catering accommodation can be a tricky one. Staying at a hotel is often the more luxurious option and guests benefit from in-house restaurants, guided tours of the country's heritage sites and maid service during their stay. (more...) If there is one thing that many people love about hotels and Cruises it is the little things that they find in their room, the finishing touches which make a good holiday into a really great holiday, although some people are far more demanding than others are. Some people are perfectly happy if there are decent toiletries in the room, especially ones by top names which can slip into their suitcases quite easily for the journey home. Others are more impressed by extra facilities such as espresso coffee makers or Jacuzzi baths. Newly weds are always treated very well and they often arrive to find rose petals strewn around the bed and one romantic trip I went on, the cleaning lady had even put a towel on the bed which she had made into the shape of a white swan – now that is what I call service. (more...) If you are finding those euro zone countries just too heavy on the pocket for a summer holiday, why not consider Turkey as your summer destination this year? You can find very cheap holidays to Turkey as they are still relatively inexpensive partly due to the exchange rate and partly due to the fact that the cost base there is lower than in some of the European countries. Turkey is becoming increasingly popular for holidays all throughout the year due to its good climate, its great food, its amazing beaches and its wealth of cultural attractions for when you get tired of lazing around the beach. (more...) When most people think of travel and a holiday abroad, they almost instantly associate it with a package holiday booked through a travel agent. This is fine in many cases, but if you prefer to travel a little more independently, then there are other options available. For example, by booking the flights and accommodation yourself, it is possible to get great value for money and also have an itinerary that is more suited to your needs. Taking Holland as an example, if you were to search for cheap Amsterdam apartments online, you would be presented with a wide selection of places to choose from. If you would prefer an hotel over an apartment, then the same principles can be applied. In fact, you may see the exact same hotels listed online that you had previously seen in a travel agent's brochure, only at a far more competitive price! (more...)
